POSITION REPORTS TO:                                                  POSITION BEGINS:

CLARENCE LAVARIAS, PRINCIPAL                              2008-09 SCHOOL YEAR

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible  for planning, implementing, and evaluating a learning experience in English (emphasis on writing, literature, speech); demonstrates ability to integrate state essential learnings into daily instruction; demonstrates knowledge of subject matter, demonstrates competency in instructional skills;  informs students of their progress;  handles student discipline and attendance problems;  evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction accordingly.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Makes long and short range plans for subject area of instruction

2.         Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students

3.         Provides a classroom climate which is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency

4.         Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district

5.         Performs job related, non-teaching duties

6.         Participates in staff development activities

7.         Attends staff meetings, department meetings, and serves on building committees as         required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         Hold a valid Washington State teaching certificate for the appropriate grade level (out of state candidates must meet Washington State certification requirements).  If certificate is endorsed, endorsement must be for the subject and grade level taught.

2.         Experience in teaching at the high school level in subject(s) specified for the position.

 

OTHER DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

1.         Certificate endorsements in other subject areas

2.         Experience in teaching high school Honors and/or Advanced Placement classes

2.         Possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and to carry out the      instructional program

3.         Have the ability to work as a team member with the principals, teachers, and all other staff members

4.         Ability to serve in the extra-curricular activities program

REQUIREMENTS:

1.   All District employees shall undergo a criminal records check, including a fingerprint check by both the State Patrol and FBI.

2.   All District employees shall sign an Authorization and Release of Information form relating to prior school district employment.                                                                                  

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work Year:       2008-09 School Year

Work Hours:     7 hrs, 30 min (includes 30 min duty-free lunch)

Salary:              Certificated salary schedule for 2007-2009

Benefits:           District provides a pro-rata FTE share of state insurance benefit entitlement to go towards payment of premiums for medical, dental, vision insurances

All candidates will be notified of their status by mail after the position has been filled.  All application materials will be reviewed by a screening committee.  Those applicants judged to most nearly meet the requirements of the position will be invited to the district for an interview.  The interview process may require a demonstration of knowledge and/or skills.  Selection of the successful candidate will be made following interviews.
