Primary Function:
Under
the direction of the Director of Special Services and under the supervision of
the Occupational Therapist administers therapy to students. Follows the primary OTR’s screening/evaluation, treatment plans and goals. Maintains current written records on each
student served.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Implement treatment programs with individual and small groups of students as directed by the Occupational Therapist, including:
a. gross and fine motor strengthening
programs and development activities
b. computer keyboarding and other
computer activities
c. activities of daily living, i.e.,
dressing, feeding, toileting programs
d. range of motion
e. general conditioning
f. physical
education/recreational/playground activities
g. ambulation, gait training, transfers
and wheelchair mobility
h. material preparation and set-up
i.
assisting in classroom sessions during therapy time
2. Keep record of therapy sessions,
progress notes and other documentation as required
3. Fabricate, assemble, repair and adapt
equipment for special needs
4. Assist in monitoring the maintenance,
cleanliness & working condition of theory equipment
5. Attend staff meetings, department
in-services, & other meetings as they relate to caseload
6. Attend staff development/professional
seminars/meetings to upgrade/maintain skills
7. Communicate effectively with staff and
parents
8. Relate to the student’s physical and
emotional needs
9. Contribute judgment and interpret
student response to prescribed therapy interventions
10. Possess a working knowledge of special
education laws and district policies
11. Develop a functional relationship with
OTR
Qualifications:
1. Current State of Washington Certified
Occupational Therapist Assistant license
2. Valid registration with the American
Occupational Therapy Association
3. Associate Degree in Applied Arts and
Sciences as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
4. Ability to communicate and work
effectively with students, staff and parents
5. Ability to participate effectively
within a team setting
6. Ability to be attentive to detail
7. Ability to flexible and work under a
variety of pressures
8. Ability to safely lift primary through
secondary age student (above 50 lbs with assistance)
9. Ability to provide own transportation
between work sites
10.
Current CPR and First Aid card

1. Experience with pediatrics
Requirements:
1. All District employees shall undergo
criminal records check including a fingerprint check by
both the
State Patrol and FBI.
2. All District employees shall sign an Authorization and Release of Information form relating to prior school district employment.
Conditions of employment:
Work
Year: School Year 181 days plus 9 paid holidays
Work
Day: 6 hrs/day; 2 days/week
Salary: Per PSE salary schedule
