Application Process for the 2005-2006 School Year
The application process for the 2005-2006 school year will begin when school resumes January 3. All application materials are due back in by March 4, 2005. Application forms are available at the office and on our website.
As in the past, site visitations of the classrooms in action are required during the school day for both parents and prospective students. They must also attend a Parent Information Night on March 9.
A change from last year will be that the Parent-Administrator interview will now become a Parent-Child-Administrator interview, and will be conducted after the school day sometime after March 9. The interview times will be available in a later newsletter.
If you have younger siblings you wish to have considered for Eagle Rock, you must complete the application process, except for attending the Information Night.

Notes from the Director’s Chair
Well, the holidays are here, and my “to-do” list for Eagle Rock isn’t much shorter than it was in September! We continue to wait on landscaping (though my bathroom finally got its hot water tank back on; we got a plastic weather break on the west wall of the deck over the lattice; and a threshold is now on the floor at the door!).
Chips are now on our playing field (after losing the use of the “field” area for several months while waiting for sod or seeding, the staff decided to go ahead with covering the playing are with wood chips so that students can access it immediately). Cameron Byer, newsletter staff member, says the chips are over 5” deep!
All good things come to those who wait—and with all our waiting, we must be in for really good things! Have a great holiday season, and we’ll see you in 2005!

Ask Sara
by Sara Ullman
Ask Sara,” soon to appear in this publication, will be an advise column in the Eagle Rock News Letter. This is how the Ask Sara column works; if you have a question or problem that you would like to ask me, write it down and put it in the “Ask Sara” box, which will be on the counter in Mrs. Harris’s room. Remember that all your questions have to be school-appropriate. If it is appropriate, I will put your question and my answer in the News Letter.

Friday Fun
Our Multi-Age Day on December 17 had everyone enjoying Holiday fun. We made snowflakes, had cookies and chocolate milk, and participated in several holiday events. What a great way to end 2004!
P.T.A Reflections
Reflections entries are due on January 7.
Christmas Time
by Jessica Pitts
Oh, yes, at last Christmas is here.
When we’re tucked in our beds, we’ll hear
Santa and his reindeer.
Downstairs the tree is all lit up’
On a stool lay some cookies and a milk-filled cup.
My sister and I always have smirks on our face.
We gladly run down the stairs like it’s a big race.
I love to look outside and hear sleigh bells chime
And that’s mostly why I love Christmas time!

Student Council Corner
by Maggie Gronberg
The Eagle Rock Student Council held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 14. The first item we did was to set the Spirit Days on the calendar:
- Dec. 14 and 16 — Red and Green Days.
- Jan. 28 — Historical Dress Up Day. Dress up like a historical figure in honor of our past presidents.
- Feb. 18 — Backwards Day: Dress up sdrawkcab!
- March 18 — Pajama Day.
- April 8 — Twin Day.
- May 20 — Crazy Hair or Crazy Hat Day.
- June 10 — Future Day: Dress up like what you would like to be in the future!
We also decided to sponsor a “Brick” at Taylor Park. Mrs. Harris will arrange to have ASB funds purchase a brick, which will be imprinted with our school’s name and the year.
Survey Created to Consider Lengthening the School Day
After the first of the year, a survey will be sent home to identify interest among parents in lengthening the school day. If you would like to see the survey and give input before it is sent out, a meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 4 at 5:00 in Mrs. Harris’s room.
