Emergency Procedure In A Nutshell
- Fire - Evacuate to Cedarcrest High School
- Earthquake - Depends on the severity of the quake. We will
either stay on site or evacuate to Cedarcrest High School.
- Power outage - We would most likely stay at Eagle Rock. We
may evacuate to Cedarcrest if the outage is prolonged.
- Stranger In area/Hazard - Lock down procedure will go into
effect.
- In Event of a wide spread disaster, and you are unable to pick
up your child, we have provisions to safely shelter and feed
your child for 72 hours.
- The SERT (Student Emergency Response Team)
will assist their assigned students and teachers.
Reuniting Plan
If there is an emergency during school hours Eagle Rock has a
procedure in place to reunite you with your child. We realize that
in an emergency situation the first thing you want to know is that
your child is safe. We also need to account for each and every
student at the school during an emergency.
The following procedure allows you to reunite with your child
and for us to account for all students. Prior to the beginning
of the school year you were asked to complete an after school/emergency
dismissal form. This form is on file at the school. During an emergency
which requires us to evacuate the building for an extended amount
of time and regular transportation is not available, Eagle Rock
will use the following procedure to reunite children with their
families.
- A check out desk will be set up at the front of our relocation
spot. This will be manned by a school district employee or designee.
- As you come on site you will need to stop by and sign your
child out with the date and time and where you are going. In
the event you are unavailable only an adult with name listed
on your school emergency/early dismissal form may sign your child
out.
- In the event of a wide spread disaster and you are unable
to get your child, we have provisions to safely shelter and feed
your child for 72 hours.
Kid Kits
At Eagle Rock we want to make sure each child is as comfortable
as possible in an emergency situation. Every kindergarten student
or new student to Eagle Rock is asked to bring a kid kit or comfort
pack to school.
For returning students we ask that you review the pack annually
at Fall Conference time and update it as necessary. Below is a
list of things the American Red Cross has recommended for the comfort
pack.
- Hat and Gloves Picture of Family
- 1-Pair Dry Socks Disaster Buddy
- Letter From Parent(s) Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Comb/Brush
- Personal Comfort Foods
- 72 hours of any prescription medication
- Pre-written prescription for above medication
- Medical note and information sheet
- Small phone book (emergency numbers)
- Any notes/instructions to teacher
- Any special items the child wants that will fit in the lunch
bag.
By bringing in this pack you can be assured that your student
will be comforted at a time of emergency. If you have not yet sent
in your kid kit contents for the current year, you may send a check
for $10.00 made out to Eagle Rock PA and the Emergency Preparedness
Committee will make one for your child.
Donations Needed
If you would like to donate to the Eagle Rock Emergency Preparedness
Program, please contact the committee for specifics.
Some items we could use would be fleece throws, and other cold
weather items such as wool blankets. We would also like to obtain
a Swiss Army Knife. This item needs to be brought in by a parent
and not sent in with a child.
If you wish to donate any other items please contact Jan Neigel, neigelj@riverview.wednet.edu.
Eagle Rock Emergency Plans
Several of our plans include evacuating to Cedarcrest High School.
If this happens we would put up a sign at our site to inform parents.
Our secondary relocation is currently on our playground.
Fire
- Evacuate to Cedarcrest High School
Earthquake
- Depending on the severity of the quake, we will stay on site
until the City of Duvall comes and tells us we may re-enter our
building. It is possible we may relocate to Cedarcrest or to
the secondary relocation site.
Power Outage or Storm
We would most likely stay on site. We may evacuate to Cedarcrest
if the situation is prolonged and we feel it is safe to do so.
Stranger or Hazard in Area
Follow our Lockdown Procedure
- General Rule, if there is danger outside we will
- Keep everyone inside a classroom with the doors and windows
locked and blinds closed.
- Keep the students safe in unstable
conditions.
- Procedure
- Lock down signal is given which is “Lock down, Lock
down, Lock down”
- This can be done by way of telephone or Walkie Talkie
to all rooms.
- Students and staff report to safe place in the classroom.
- Doors and windows will be locked from the inside and not
opened until the all clear signal is given.
- Lock down to be reported to the following outside stations
- 911
- Cedarcrest High School 844-4800
- District Office 844-4500
- Parents arriving during this time will not be allowed to
enter the building.
We will practice this procedure and update it with each drill
as necessary.
Our goal is to keep calm, safe, and be prepared.
