Field Trips

Print Version - Eagle Rock Field Trip Handbook

General Parent Information

  1. One trip or speaker per month is planned to coordinate with the curriculum and be fun. We try to alternate trip and speaker months.
  2. Five chaperones per class, 5:1 ratio, are needed for out of district outings, or the trip is cancelled.
  3. Chaperones can be a parent, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.. However, they must be 21 years or older, capable of attending to five students, and carry the lunches for their entire group. Chaperones cannot be responsible for dependents other than students during the outing.
  4. For the safety of our kids, Washington State Patrol forms must be on file for anyone who maybe chaperoning.
  5. Consent forms and field trip information will be sent out for each trip for you to review. The consent form must be signed and returned before your child can participate.
  6. The annual field trip fee is $30.
  7. Chaperones cover their own parking and entrance fees on individual trips.
  8. Students and chaperones need to bring a disposable sack lunch for trip days.

Chaperone Guidelines

  1. Arrive at school for the field trip at least 20 minutes before our departure time to receive your student assignments and lunches.
  2. Bring a backpack or tote to carry your student's lunches.
  3. Know where your assigned students are at all times
  4. Follow the itinerary and time schedule
  5. Encourage students to ask questions and be actively involved during the outing
  6. Respectfully correct students who are not staying with your group, being orderly or respectful
  7. In public or crowded places, encourage a buddy system or require "wanderers" to hold hands
  8. Call the teacher to help with any student not responding to the above directions
  9. In the event of an EMERGENCY, teachers and the bus drivers are carrying emergency supplies and phone numbers in the Red Backpack.
  10. Due to space issues, Chaperones usually cannot ride the school bus with students. Chaperones are responsible for their own parking and entrance fees on individual trips.
  11. If you have to meet us at the trip site, make arrangements at least 24 hours in advance with the chaperone coordinator.
  12. If your child is going home with you after the trip the office will need a written excuse.

Student Drop-Off or Pick-Up

Dropping off or picking up your child up from a field trip location is not encouraged. If it becomes necessary, the parent or guardian must provide a written request no less than 24 hours prior to the trip. This request must be turned into the office for administrative approval.
