Volunteers
Volunteers are an integral part of ERMA. The more volunteers the
easier it is for all involved. Our Volunteer
Guidelines provide a great overview on what is expected.
If there is something you see the school needs and you don't see
that opportunity listed, please talk with your child's teacher
or Mrs. Harris. There is always something else that can be done
to continue to improve our school!
Volunteer Opportunities
As parents of Eagle Rock children we agreed to volunteer
at least 60 family hours. An easy way to think about what would
count towards your 60 hours is to ask yourself this question
"Can the event or activity go on without my active involvement?"
If you answer NO, then you are actively involved in
planning or supporting the event by leading an activity or a group. Such activities would include chaperoning a
field trip, serving on the fundraising committee, making copies
for a teacher, or watching another parent's child(ren) so that parent may support the event. These hours would count towards the 60 hours.
Helping at the school during regular school hours in the classroom, in the office, or with an activity will generally count towards your 60 hours. Also watching a parent's child(ren) so they may help at the school would count.
Serving on or chairing PTA committees, school committees,
or district committees count towards the 60 hours. Your hours
should be reported to the committee chair who will report all hours
for the event or activity to the office.
If you answer YES, then it probably doesn't count towards the
required 60 hours. It doesn't mean the event or activity isn't
important, fun or worthwhile. Such activities include attending
a general PTA meeting,
attending curriculum night, or attending family nights.
The after school events and activities may or not count towards
the 60 family hours.
When in doubt about counting your hours, ask the office staff.
They will let you know.
There are many opportunities to get your 60 hours in!
