Cedarcrest High School Drill Team State Champions!

The Cedarcrest Drill Team is not only superior, and State Champs, for the first time in Cedarcrest history, they also received the overall high score of all events in the 1A, 2A, and 3A dance and drill competition out of 56 other performances. In addition they received the 3rd highest score out of the entire weekend that included 4A teams (132 performances in total from over 70 teams)! Coach Jennifer Donogh shared, " While all of the girls have done an excellent job focusing on their biggest competition, their placement also shows what an amazing job the four graduating officers did in the choreography of the winning routine."
The State Competition was held Saturday, March 28 th at the Sun Dome in Yakima . The team scored a total of 472.5 points, 22.5 points beyond the Superior rating. The team is also excited to be able to experience this honor with the Dance Team who placed 3rd in the 2A Dance Category as well.
Drill Captains, Catherine Beard and Kim Bonner shared their appreciation for their Coach, Jenn Donogh, "We would not be a superior, first place team without our amazing and inspiring coach. she had faith in us even on our darkest days.and our hard working group of girls this year truly gave it their all.they believed in themselves and in the team."
On Saturday, as the girls were preparing to leave their hotel, the hotel manager called one of the team moms, Pam Quayle asking her to stall the girls as he was having the hotel billboard sign changed to read, "Congratulations CHS Drill State Champs". So, as the bus drove away the team and all hotel visitors could see the thoughtful tribute to their success.
When the girls arrived back at Cedarcrest for their parents to pick them up, they were thrilled to be greeted by family and friends standing under umbrellas with signs, cow bells and whistles in celebration of their victory.
