Greg Bawden
– Board President
Greg Bawden was elected to the Riverview Board of Directors
in November 2003. He has served as Board
President for the past two years. Having
grown up in the Bothell/Kenmore area, he graduated from Western Washington
University with a B.S. in
Environmental Studies. Mr. Bawden worked
for 13 years investigating hazardous material sites, which included project
management, budgeting and working with businesses and government agencies
across the country to reach decisions regarding site investigation and
cleanup. He is currently a Captain with
the Duvall Fire Department and is in charge of training. Mr. Bawden has two children attending
Riverview schools, and his wife, Julie, has been a teacher at Tolt Middle School
since 1986.
Mr. Bawden believes strongly in the role of public education
in developing citizens and maintaining our democracy. Our schools should provide the best education
possible for all students while preparing them for work, vocational or
technical training, or college.
Furthermore, he believes the district has an obligation to be as efficient
as possible with our limited education dollars, while at the same time taking
care to provide safe facilities for out students.
Danny
Edwards
Danny Edwards was appointed to the School Board on November
13, 2007, to fulfill the remaining term of office created when Phil Gore
resigned. He has lived in Duvall since
1993 and has been active in the community.
Mr. Edwards served as President of the Rotary Club of Duvall for two
terms, President of the Duvall Chamber of Commerce for two terms, and on the
Board of Directors for the Sno-Valley
Senior Center
for four years.
Mr. Edwards has worked for the financial services firm,
Edward Jones, since 1997 and has run the Duvall office since 2003. He holds the designation of Accredited Asset
Management Specialist (AAMS) from the College
of Financial Planning in Washington DC, and the
designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life
Underwriter (CLU) from the American College in Bryn
Mawr, PA. He and his wife, Christina, have six children
between them, with three still in the Riverview district, one at Cedarcrest High School
and two at Tolt Middle School.
Lori Oviatt
Lori Oviatt was appointed to the Riverview Board of
Directors on April 25, 2006 to fulfill the remaining term of office created
when Dave Hunter resigned and re-elected to that position in November
2007. She has been an active Riverview
volunteer and community member for more than 14 years. Her service on the Eagle Rock Multi-Aged
Site-Based Council, District Communication Committee, Strategic Planning
Committee, Superintendent Search Committee, Interview Committee, Co-Curricular
Committee, and Senior Project committee has earned her the Riverview Bridge
Builder service pin. In her spare time
she writes sports articles for the local newspaper, The River Current News.
Ms. Oviatt earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s
Degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Iowa
State University,
and formerly taught second grade in Iowa. She has taught at all levels, including adult
education. Ms. Oviatt worked at
Microsoft for 14 years and continues to work for the company as a vendor. She
also works for a nonprofit agency training information and communication
technology workers. She and her husband,
James, have three children, two who have graduated from Cedarcrest High School,
and one currently attending Cedarcrest.

Dan Pflugrath
Dan Pflugrath was elected to the Riverview Board of
Directors in November 1999, and served as Board President for three years. He has been an active volunteer since 1992,
serving on the Goals 2000 and Riverview
Schools committees, as
advisor to the Northeast King County Vocational Advisory Council, and as a
founding member of R.H.Y.T.H.M. (Riverview Helping Youth to Have Music). He currently serves on the Northeast District
Career and Technical Education Advisory Board and the Washington State School
Directors’ Association Small Schools Committee.
He and his wife, Jill, have three children, all graduates of the Riverview School District.
Mr. Pflugrath holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from
DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Arizona, and an Executive Master of Business
Administration from the University
of Washington. He has worked in Quality Management for 21
years with an emphasis on continuous improvement and is certified Six Sigma
Black Belt. He also is a life time ham
radio operator.

Carol Van Noy – Board Vice President
Carol Van Noy was elected to the Riverview Board of
Directors in November 1995, and is currently serving her 5th
term. She is one of the eight leadership
members of the Riverview Schools Committee who were able to build support for
the building of Cedarcrest
High School. She is also a founding member of the
Riverview Education Foundation (REF). She has been involved in PTSA and
Cedarcrest Senior Class activities. She
has been instrumental in the development of the District’s Strategic Plan and
alternative education programs. Mrs. Van
Noy has been Board Vice President for six years and Legislative Representative
for 10 years. She has also served six
years as the Washington State School Directors’ Association State Legislative
Representative from District 2.
Mrs. Van Noy has worked for 11 years at United Way of King
County and holds a BA from the University of Washington. She is a frequent presenter on legislative
advocacy and fundraising strategies. She
and her husband, Jim, have two sons, both graduates of Cedarcrest High School. Mrs. Van Noy is passionate about public
education and success for every student.
