Mission

Stillwater is a dynamic learning community where everyone thrives.

Vision

Stillwater encourages a sense of belonging, a desire for excellence, and the resiliency to adapt to a changing world.

About Stillwater Elementary

Located at Lake Marcel, Stillwater Elementary serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Our population extends to Lake Joy, Lake Margaret, and areas of unincorporated King County. We are a school of approximately 450 students. During the school year, we served as a district site for a special services classroom. Classroom teachers average 20 years experience. Educational assistants serve children in bus lines, on the playground, in the lunchroom, and as instruction assistants as well. A full-time librarian, music, and PE teacher serve children daily.

Stillwater is alive and energized with Writers' Workshop. As a result, the teachers are creating a quality writing environment for their students. This community of learners knows that writing is highly important as it serves as a foundation for the thinking and learning our students are required to do across the curriculum.

Stillwater is known for the many opportunities provided to students. We support an active Ham Radio Club, intramural sports, 5th grade beginning band, and an Associate Student Body leadership program. An annual Walk-a-Thon and Bingo Night raises thousands of dollars for books and technology.

Class Size

Students are expected to attend school regularly to make satisfactory progress toward Riverview standards and state essential learning. Absences are excused for emergencies, illness, or medical appointments.

School Improvement Goals

“To strengthen student performance across all curriculum areas.”

Our school improvement goals will be reviewed and revised in Fall 2007.

Facility Information

Stillwater opened its doors in 1989 and is located near Lake Marcel, east of Redmond and Bellevue, near the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Our school serves approximately 490 students kindergarten through fifth grade.

Twenty-six classrooms, special services classrooms, and four portables are supported by a library, music room, stage, and a large commons area which includes a lunchroom and gym.

All classroom computers are connected to the Internet. After school hours, the site is used regularly by many youth groups, boys' and girls' clubs, scouts, Campfire, Little League, soccer and coaches' associations, as well as other community groups throughout the year.

Student Safety

Student safety is a high priority. As you become a part of the Stillwater community, we will alert you of the safe driving rules we strongly enforce. We want all of our students to arrive at school and depart at the end of the day in a safe manner.

We take other safety precautions as well. Practiced fire and earthquake drills help keep us on our toes in case of emergency. We have a lockdown procedure in place. Thanks to PTSA we have an emergency preparedness storage container to help us through a major disaster. We hope we never have to use it, but are prepared just in case.

PTA/PTSA

Stillwater Elementary is a family of learners in a uniquely supportive community. Helping students to succeed is a joint effort. Know that you are welcome. Students are most successful when all three members of the team are working together with a shared vision - the student, the family, and the school. There are many ways to support and encourage each and every family in our school community to become involved with our PTSA. This organization brings success to our students through extra programs, support for teachers, and school needs.
