School Improvement Plan
Tolt Middle School is focused on school improvement and helping all students achieve academically and socially. By using test score data and in-class assessments, improving reading is a school-wide goal. Additionally, individual content areas such as math, social studies, language arts, science, PE, and fine arts each have school improvement plans. Teachers consistently design, implement, and modify curriculum to enhance student achievement.
Facility Information
There is a rich tradition at Tolt for the communities of Riverview School District. A school has been located on the Tolt campus since 1914. Tolt Middle School was established in 1989 and has solely occupied this campus since 1993. The lobby of the Thunderbird Gym houses memorial tiles and memorabilia from the many graduating classes. In more recent years, major remodeling projects resulted in a new music room, classroom wing, gym and computer lab. Beyond school programs, Tolt is used regularly by youth groups, little league, PTSA, and other community groups throughout the year. Facility use requests are available at the school office and are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
PTA/PTSA
The Parent Teacher Student Association is composed of parents and teachers who work together to support school-related interests. General PTSA meetings occur three times a year. Although there are many PTSA activities, just a few include: operating the student store during lunch time; volunteering for lunch supervision through the Pride Program; assisting with money collection during the all-school magazine drive each fall; organizing the annual talent show and 8th grade graduation dance; chaperoning after-school socials; and supporting other activities.
The PTSA at Tolt is a great way for parents to get involved.
