Student Test Scores

The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) for grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 are the state mandated tests for students. Also included below are High School AP, SAT, and ACT scores.

These tests are designed to determine the knowledge and skills that students may have acquired in specified content areas at a certain point in time. They give information that can help identify a student's strengths and instructional needs. However, test results are only one measure of a student's academic growth.

There are many other forms of assessment that are authentically related to the subject matter taught and measure skills in formats in line with the individual student's way of learning. For example, student writers in Riverview have been assessed for six traits of writing: organization, voice, ideas and content, sentence fluency, and word choice. Teachers have been trained to put strategies into action in the classroom to improve these traits in their students' work.
