Computer Network

The Riverview School District has had a Wide Area Network since 1995.  Every classroom in every school has at least two network drops.

The Internet Connections

The Internet access service is provided by the K-20 network from the State of Washington.

The School Networks

Each school and the district office has a LAN based on 10/100 Base-T wiring. The T1 Internet connection is terminated in the school's telephone wiring closet.

Each school typically has several dozen net taps - at least two per classroom. Wiring from the classrooms was brought into convenient closets around the schools and terminated in hubs which accept 24 or 48 connections.

The Network Servers

Each LAN also has at least 3 file servers. The servers run Microsoft's Windows 2000 and 2003 Server operating systems.

The Email System

The email system is Microsoft Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003 as the predominate client.
