Technology Learning Expectations (Short Form)

Kindergarten students will

  1. Identify mouse, keyboard, and printer.
  2. Print.
  3. Use functions on the menu bar; File.
  4. Create one slide/page demonstrating use of art tools.

First grade students will

  1. Demonstrate responsible computer care.
  2. Start up and quit a program.
  3. Print.
  4. Create a class slide show.

Second-grade students will

  1. Start up and quit more than one program.
  2. Name and save a file to a folder share
  3. Create a small group slide show.
  4. Enter an URL to access an Internet site.
  5. Type a short story using simple editing tools.

Third-grade students will

  1. Create individual slide show (5 slides).
  2. Save and retrieve a document.
  3. Use "Edit" on the menu bar (Cut and Paste)
  4. Name and place a folder in a specific location.
  5. Touch type approximately 10 words per minute (WPM).
  6. Type a short story using any program.
  7. Explain different ways computer technology is used.

Fourth-grade students will

  1. Select a printer from a variety of printers or locations.
  2. Execute short-cut key commands (Save, Print, Copy, Paste, and All).
  3. Navigate between windows.
  4. Create a small group multimedia presentation using five slides.
  5. Touch type approximately 10 word per minute (WPM) with three errors or less using letters only.
  6. Understand Internet/on-line safety issues.

Fifth grade students will

  1. Identify peripheral hardware (scanner, digital camera).
  2. Use the "Find" function.
  3. Define Bookmarks, Browsers, WWW URLs.
  4. Create an individual multimedia presentation with 8 - 10 slides using links.
  5. Touch type approximately 15 words per minutes (WPM) with three errors or less using letters and punctuation with proper fingering.
  6. Explain advantages and disadvantages of using computer technology.

Sixth grade students will

  1. Organize files into folders by dragging into sub-folders.
  2. Create and present a multimedia project.
  3. Touch type a minimum of 20 words per minute (wpm) with three errors or less using letters and punctuation with proper fingering.
  4. Create a document which includes borders, a heading, and a simple graphic.
  5. Use a template to generate a database with three finds and five records.
  6. Input information in a pre-designed spreadsheet.

Seventh - Twelfth Grade students will
