Tolt Middle School Math Teachers in Year 2 of Math-Technology Grant

Five Tolt Middle School math teachers are using classroom technology tools to help better teach math concepts to their 6th and 7th grade students.  The 5 teachers, Ruth Cruz, Nona Dooley, Sonja Handeland, Janet Laverne, and Amie Miller are part of a 2 year competitive federal grant aimed at improving math instruction. The $52,000 “No Limit” grant as it’s called, provides 5 to 7 new computers per classroom, a laptop computer and big screen projector for each teacher, specialized software and data collection equipment, and extensive training in using technology to teach math.

As the teachers’ goals state for this year:

“Students will continue to grow in their enjoyment of the challenges of Math and continue to grow in taking control of their learning.  Honors and IEP students using the student stations will achieve at higher levels.  Teachers will maintain their collaborative efforts and continue to customize curricula to suit the needs of their students”
