Technology in the Riverview School District
Year End Report for the 2006-2007 School Year
The Technology Department in the Riverview School District has had another busy and productive year as the new Technology Levy began to ramp up.
Among the highlights were the following:
1. Installed 41 new computer stations with new laser printers for various Classified Staff members
2. Re-wired the Tolt campus with new data circuits to increase network reliability
3. Provided a new district wide Transportation Radio System for improved communication with the buses up and down the valley.
4. Put in security cameras at CE, SW, CV, ERMA, and DO (42 new cameras)
5. Our district "Tech Trainers" taught 14 tech classes to district staff with 109 total participants
6. The Tech Department successfully completed 1,114 "Help Desk" requests for computer related issues (6 per day of every school day). Also promoted Ryan Sage to full time Computer Tech Support.
7. Hired Karen Hough and Karen Mayfield as our new district Technology Integration Specialists for next year. They will be working with classroom teachers to facilitate the integration of technology across the curriculum, both in computer labs and in the classroom
8. Developed and received approval from OSPI a new 3 year District Technology Plan which helps guide the planning and implementation of all technology decisions in the Riverview School District through 2010.
Highlights for Next Year
1. This summer we will install all new computers in our labs at CE, CV, SW, ERMA, Tolt, and in 3 labs at CHS
2. Will put in new student and staff servers at all sites to increase speed, storage capacity, and reliability
3. A new Fiber Network will be completed, connecting each district campus and greatly increasing our district bandwidth
4. Continued staff training and tech support
